David Beckham aiming to return to action by November

April 27th: David Beckham hopes to return to competitive football by November, two months later than inititally expected. He ruptured his achilles tendon in March and underwent surgery with Finnish specialist Dr Sakari Orava who took a graft of his calf muscle to repair the tendon. Achilles tendon ruptures are common in sport and rehab is often a lengthy process. The initial prognosis from Dr Orava was four months before Beckahm could resume "light playing" but this now looks unliley as Beckahm is still on crutches and is likely to miss out on the Major League Soccer Season. "My mentality is to kind of push it and get moving and running as soon as possible. But it's an injury that has to take time to heal," he said. "It's frustrating. It's obviously disappointing because I've been working for the last two years to get into the English squad for the World Cup." Despite the injury, Beckham is still expected to travel with England to the World Cup in South Africa.
