February 20th: Britain's Amy Williams wins gold in the women's skeleton at the winter Olympics. Despite multiple complaints from the Canadians and others about the aerodynamics of her helmet, Amy reached speeds of 130kmh to finish a huge 0.56 seconds faster than her nearest rival, German Kerstin Szymkowiak to claim Britain's first solo winter Olympic gold since Robins Cousins won in Lake Placid in 1980. Her achievement is magnified by the fact that there isn't a singnle skeleton track in Britain for Amy to train on. GB's Shelley Rudman finished sixth.Come on the girls!
