What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that assesses, diagnoses, treats, and works to prevent disease and disability through physical means. Treatment can take a range of forms, including: movement and exercise, manual therapy, using adjuncts such as tape or electrotherapy, education and advice. Physiotherapy doesn’t treat just one aspect, but rather looks at the person as a whole and assessment includes everything from old injuries, through to general lifestyle.
What can I expect from a physio treatment?
Before your treatment starts, your physiotherapist will spend some talking to you and taking down your full medical history. The discussion will be followed by a thorough assessment, which will be used to ascertain where the problems might be and what approach should be taken. Following that, your physiotherapist will agree on a treatment plan with you aimed at reducing your pain and getting you back on track.
