What causes knee pain?

Knee pain is a common problem that can originate in any of the bony structures compromising the knee joint (femur, tibia, fibula), the kneecap (patella), or the ligaments and cartilage (meniscus) of the knee. Whether your injury is the result of a specific event or sport, or a gradual onset our team of physio experts is here to help.

If you’re a recreational or competitive runner you may be suffering from runner’s knee or Ilio Tibial Band Friction Syndrome (ITBFS) to give it it’s slightly less catchy name. If you’re a keen cyclist your may be suffering from a similar overuse injury.

Running and cycling knee pain cases are highly likely to respond well to physiotherapy. We use isokinetics for much of our prehab and rehab which is a proven method for restoring function. If you need surgery we have close working relationships with many of the leading knee specialist and have an excellent track record of delivering successful rehab programmes. If you’re suffering from patellofemoral pain, ligament damage or tear or Osgood Schlatters or similar paediatric conditions then physiotherapy is essential.

HOW TO BOOK GYM TIME

The gym will initially only be open to 6 members at a time to maintain a covid safe environment. To book your hour in the gym, simply head to the ESPH app or website and head to ‘Member Gym Access’ to book your arrival slot. You then have an hour from your arrival to get back into the swing of the gym!

You can make bookings up to seven days in advance. We look forward to seeing many of you back on lordship lane and bringing some life back into the building. Remember you need to come ‘gym ready’ as there will be no changing room access, and please bring your own towel if required.
